What is Depron?

Depron is a closed cell styrofoam foam in sheet form, it is a fantastic medium for building model aircraft, and also a popular medium for architectural model building, as well as model boats and prototype design.
Two main types of Depron foam are Open-cell (EPS) and Closed-cell (XPS). XPS, extruded polystyrene foam is water resistant and has a variety of uses.

Foamies" are the most common models built today with Depron foam. These remote control planes were formerly built from balsa wood, and then from simple fan-fold foam, but recently Depron has been praised for its consistency and quality. Clubs meet and compete around the world for the best model designs and construction. There are hall of fame websites for the best engineered model planes and models, along with links to download designs for those who are interested.
